President Clinton's senior official entrusted with negotiating fair trade practices with China was caught red-handed with Chinese black market contraband that she bought illegally, after slipping away from the Clinton entourage during Clinton's controversial trip to Communist China.
While the president was busy stabbing the free Chinese in Taiwan in the back, by siding with Red China on the issue of Taiwanese freedom to determine their own future, his U.S. Trade Representative, Charlene Barshefsky, was cheating an American toy manufacturer, the Ty Company of Chicago, Illinois.
The Ty Company sells the fabulously popular Beanie Babies that American tots just can't get enough of. As any parent or grandparent of a child will tell you, American kids love Beanie Babies and love to collect them. Many American kids have had to go without, because some of the most coveted stuffed animals have been in short supply around Christmas time.
But not the child of a Clinton elite! For her child, Barshefsky purchased illegally forty of the popular contraband on the Chinese black market, while traveling in China at the expense of United States taxpayers. James White, intellectual property attorney for the Ty Company, said Barshefsky's crime was no different from knowingly "buying a stolen car." U.S. Customs seized the contraband when the Clinton Administration official attempted to smuggle it into the country.
