CLINTON GETS ONE RIGHT

President Clinton deserves credit for refusing to go along with the One Worlders of his own administration and social circle who desperately want to advance the cause of One World Government by surrendering American sovereignty to the Eurocrats' latest cause celebre, The World Court for Crimes Against Humanity.

The United Nations recently hosted a conference in Rome in which they attempted to sell, among other things, the idea that American citizens should surrender their right to be tried by juries of their peers, in accordance with he rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution. The One Worlders insist that this is not their intent, but that is surely where this bad idea will lead if it ever gets off the ground.

The One Worlders insist that their new creation, which will have preemptive powers over the adjudicative proceedings of the world's countries, would be used only to try those accused of "crimes against humanity." Anyone in favor of humanity is of course against crimes against humanity, so 'what's the problem?' the Eurocrats and American leftists arrogantly ask.

The problem is that Americans already have a system of justice. Our system provides justice for all those accused of crimes and, in many cases, the victims of crimes as well. Hundreds of Americans died, face down in the mud, to protect that right, among the other rights afforded protection by our Constitution.

If this new World Court concept becomes a reality, Americans will have little control over who defines "crimes against humanity." Let me pose a hypothetical of a One World Government run amok which might prove mildly amusing to Conservatives, but truly frightening to Liberals.

Ever since five Justices of the Supreme Court preempted American democracy in 1973, abortion has been legal in the United States. Millions of Americans don't like it and many thousands have dedicated their lives to stop what they, and I, view as slaughter of over 30 million innocent lives in the name of "choice." There could come a time when United Nations bureaucrats declare the wholesale slaughter of human fetuses a "crime against humanity." Liberal obstetricians could find themselves on trial for their lives in Rome, without the American judicial system to protect them. In fact, One Worlders could feel emboldened enough to put liberal politicians and feminists on trial as well for conspiring with the baby killers.

Perhaps it will not be abortionists the One Worlders go after, but shareholders of tobacco companies, or the manufacturers of firearms. That will likely not happen, but it illustrates the point that in America we have a system of lawmaking and a system of justice which, though imperfect, have served Americans well for over 220 years.

The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It will always preempt any United Nations resolution or treaty when it comes to governing the activities in the United States. We do not need One World Government, and we do not want One World Government. The European and the Third Worlders have absolutely no say in how we Americans govern ourselves (with the possible exception of the Chinese, who have temporarily hijacked our federal executive).

To his credit, Bill Clinton has, to date, opposed this horrible effort by the United Nations.
